Meet Jennifer Hoffman

An unexpected adventure led to an unexpected profession…

Jennifer Hoffman of Jennifer’s Handmade Soap never thought she would own her own business, let alone make soap! “This whole crazy adventure started because of an article I was writing back in September of 2009 for Seton Hill University's Writing Popular Fiction program.  I was doing research on the cleanliness of people in the 1800s when I came across an all day soap making class Old Sturbridge Village was offering. I thought it could be interesting and if nothing else, I could talk with the instructor about how they made soap in the 1800s. So I signed up.”

When Jennifer woke up the day after the workshop, and unfolded her soap from the mold, she was “completely pulled in.” In January of 2012 she launched Jennifer’s Handmade Soap.

When Jennifer isn’t making soap she is passionate about helping our Veterans, “My father and grandfather both served in the Army and my brother currently serves. I moved all over as a kid and have a special bond with that life. I try and help out in different ways from volunteering time, donating money/soap, and any other way I can.” Jennifer understands that kindness is a gift we can all give so easily, which is why she strives to be the kind of person who helps to make (at least) a small difference in the lives of others.
